Onam is one of the famous hindu festival of Kerala in India. This festival falls month of August–September in the Malayalam calendar. This festival is the official state festival of Kerala with public holidays and celebration of ten days. This festival is a very major annual event for a Malayali. It's celebrated in the loving memory of King Mahabali who ruled over Mahabalipurum in ancient times. It is the New Year day for Malayali Hindus.
